As Angelenos celebrated the Fourth of July with legal, and not so legal fireworks, the Los Angeles Fire Department and Los Angeles Police Department were busy at work.
Like in other areas if Los Angeles, fireworks were not the only things getting lit during this holiday. Brush and grass fires were reported in Montecito Heights near Ernest E. Debs Regional Park, and El Sereno near Mercury Avenue, and thankfully, no injuries were reported.
The LA Fire Department reported to responding to almost 30 building fires, almost 30 grass and brush fires, 65 tree fires, and 116 trash fires on Fourth of July.
The LAPD was so overwhelmed with calls that they asked everyone to contact 877-ASK-LAPD with non-injury or non-fire related calls, as by the end of the day, they still had over 1,000 online reports and 150 non-emergency calls on hold.
