The Colorado Street Bridge Celebration is Still on, Virtually!

Pasadena Heritage is leading a week long virtual celebration of the City’s iconic Colorado Street Bridge from Aug. 9-15, with an entire schedule of events planned out for each day.

Sunday, Aug. 9- The celebration’s kick off starts with a classic car cruise, with cars from Pasadena and all over Los Angeles. The cars will drive by historic neighborhoods of Pasadena, and of course, across the Colorado Street Bridge. Find the route on the event’s website.

Monday, Aug. 10, at 6 p.m– Chip Jacobs, author of, “Arroyo”, and who has written for Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, and CNN, will give a lecture on the history of the Colorado Street Bridge. The lecture will cover the preservation efforts, Pasadena Heritage’s involvement, repairs, and upgrades.

Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 6 p.m– Members of a task forced created specifically for this, along with architects, will get together to discuss the fencing on the Colorado Street Bridge, to continue deterring suicides.

Wednesday, Aug. 12– Children’s Corner- This kid friendly event will include Alan Bruni hosting a drum circle, Pasadena Heritage Education Director Patty Judy will read a children’s book about bridges and interview architect Chris Peck, with a bridge-building activity. (A list of supplies will be provided in advance.)

Thursday, Aug. 13, at 6 p.mSponsors (and their guests) only event. Pasadena artist Kenton Nelson, whose paintings have been featured on the cover of The New Yorker magazine five times, will talk about his experience painting the Pasadena Street Bridge.

Members-only. As a thank you to their members, Pasadena Heritage will also release a audio walking tour this day to the South Grand area next to the Colorado Street Bridge.

Friday, Aug. 14, at 6 p.m– Virtual Happy Hour and Bridge Trivia hosted by Pasadena Heritage docents, is set for this day, with beer brewers from Eagle Rock Brewery. (Capacity is limited. Beer must be ordered separately through Eagle Rock Brewery.)

Saturday, Aug. 15– Pasadena Heritage will broadcast a recap of all the week’s events.

Tickets to the online event are $20-$25, though, the Virtual Beer Tasting and  Bridge Trivia event on Aug. 14 requires a separate registration. Proceeds will support Pasadena Heritage.
