The PTA Council of Pasadena Unified School District celebrated its 100th birthday in style on Tuesday, May 19th at the Carnegie Observatories, in the garden behind its historic Myron Hunt-designed facility. Mayor Terry Tornek, PUSD superintendent Brain McDonald, and a number of local luminaries were in attendance to see PTA Council president Kitty Cahalan confer the PTA Council Honorary Service Awards on dedicated PUSD volunteers Lydia Idem Finkley, Frances Dayman, Angie O’Brien and Lourdes Shoals. Musical entertainment was provided by the Michael McDaniel Quartlet featuring Nehal, and a viewing of the PUSD documentary, GO Public” A Day in the Life of an American School District, was given in the auditorium. PTA Council of PUSD is a Parent-Teacher Association organization that supports the twenty-four PTA units within the PUSD with training, resources, and district level advocacy.
