6 Gardening Hacks For Big Yards and Gardens

A lot of areas of California are full of beautiful hillsides, and if you live in the hills of Northeast La, or West San Gabriel Valley, we know those enormous back yards wont maintain themselves. Here are 6 hacks to keep you from breaking your back!

1. Sealed tool bucket

If you don’t have one already, it’s super important to keep your tools nice and dry, away from moisture that might ruse them. Buckets with lid will do the job perfectly.

2. PVC pipe “straw”

Have you ever actually thought about fertilizing your big bushes? There’s actually a way to do this! Use PVC pipe as a giant straw to get your fertilizer down to the roots.

3. Big pot fillers

Have big beautiful pots, that your too scared to move because they’re extremely heavy? Fill them halfway up with either Styrofoam or empty cans so they’re not as heavy, and to allow for more drainage and air circulaiton.

4. Plant in an empty pot

Ever regretted having planted a certain plant? Or do you have plants that need to be changed every season? Just plant same-size empty pot in the ground for easy swapping!

5. Use zip ties to guide your vine plants

Do you have beautiful viny plants that are getting a little out of hand? Use zip ties to secure them to stable fences or wherever you’d like, but lose enough to give them space to grow. Give them the shape you want!

6. Use a heavy duty tarp as a wheel barrow

This was a game changer for me. Invest in a nice heavy duty tarp and use it to drag all the tree and bush cuttings. This is especially helpful when you have huge yards on hillsides and wheel barrows are tough to roll down with a heavy load.

We hope these hacks help you make landscaping your home a lot easier, especially if you live on the hills of Northeast LA!
