While there were a ton of restrictions as to how to proceed with home-shopping when the COVID-19 pandemic first began, things are slowly starting to go back to normal (sort of) on the house-hunting front.
It’s really just about having some common sense and courtesy, and, it’s quite easy, too! Check out the 6 new rules to viewing properties in person.
Wear a protective face mask.
This one is pretty obvious, as it is now a part of the new norm, and daily lives.
Wash your hands with soap and water (duh), or, use hand sanitizer.
We’re sure that living in a pandemic for about 3 and a half months now has taught you that it’s very hard not to touch anything, especially your phone! Washing your hands is the best way to make sure you are not taking germs everywhere you go. In the case that you cannot wash your hands, use hand sanitizer!
Wear gloves.
If you’re viewing a house, you should refrain from touching anything, but if you must, wear a pair of new gloves to do so.
Practice social distancing.
Make sure to stay 6 feet away from your agent or any of the home-owners during your showing.
Do not touch surfaces.
Avoid touching anything, especially door knobs, handles, faucets, counter tops, light switches, and other high-contact objects.
Discard, discard, discard!
Throw away your disposable masks, gloves, or shoe booties worn during your visit.
If you’re sick, stay home.
If you currently have tested positive for COVID-19, or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, or have any symptoms such as cough, fever, or difficulty breathing, please do not enter the property.
Sign the Coronavirus Property Entry Advisory and Declaration- Visitor Form
This new form was just added by the California Association of Realtors for any person entering a home for a showing, and it verifies that you are aware of the measures, and risks, associated with viewing the home.
Just as these steps keep the homeowners safe, you must keep in mind that you don’t know the homeowners, so you don’t know if any of them have had the coronavirus so it’s important to exercise the safetest measures possible to keep everyone safe and healthy.
