Inside the Stunning Highland Park Bowl
“The $2-million renovation revealed much of the old bowling alley that was previously hidden.” -Bianca Barragan CurbedLA
Are you looking for the hottest new hotspot in Highland Park? Take your friends, take your family, take your date to the freshly reopened Highland Park Bowl. Hidden behind false walls and crowded with decades of clutter, this 1920’s building was bursting with rich history just under the surface. An expert design team spent days poking around the building before making a plan.
The building was full of potential. But how to bring that potential out? Demolition was step one in the process. The only way for the renovation team to see exactly what they had to work with. So, it was all or nothing. The false walls came down and the crew took a leap of faith.
Before the renovation, the bowling lanes were hidden under decades of junk in this famously small and dark space. After the team got to work, the lanes were glossy, a stunning centerpiece. Space that was being used for storage was opened up, exposing the building’s original bow truss ceilings with multiple skylights. It was turning into a truly spectacular transformation.
While sorting through years and years of hoarded “junk” the team uncovered a treasure trove of vintage machines and about 75 cases of liquor from 1972! All of this has now been incorporated into the decor. Find out more about the cocktail and food offerings here: at Eater LA.)
