Positive News Amidst A Global Pandemic

While a global pandemic is quite scary, as long as everyone is doing their part, we will be come out of this stronger than ever. And if you’ve been keeping up with the news, you know not all the news is negative. So here are 5 great things happening while we are all hunkering down.

We’re flattening the curve!

Early projections of how the novel coronavirus would spread were extremely alarming, though quite fair. If the proper order had not been placed in time, things could have turned out a lot worse. But because California is taking all the necessary precautions, the numbers are coming in below what was expected, and though the growing number is inevitable, the growth is not skyrocketing.

The air is a lot cleaner and less polluted!

Because we’re doing such a great job following the “Safer-At-Home” orders, Los Angeles is reported to have the cleanest air in the world right now! I know, UNBELIEVABLE right?! Last month we had the longest consecutive amount of “good” air days since 1980!

Crime rates are going down!

The crime rate in Los Angeles has dropped 23%. Almost all categories of crime, like traffic collisions, DUI related accidents, property crimes, and violent crimes have had a decrease, including family violence crimes, which was a surprise even though these might have been expected to increase due to financial and mental stress conditions.

Many homeless people are getting to sleep in 5 star hotels!

A $389 a night hotel in West Los Angeles is currently checking in homeless guests and is providing lodging, as they are considered very vulnerable to COVID-19. This hotel, and soon, about a dozen more will be opened by the LA Homeless Services Authority in order to help elderly and medically fragile homeless off the streets or out of crowded shelters.

Gas prices are the lowest they’ve been in almost 3 years!

It’s quite unbelievable to drive passed a gas station and find a gallon for under $3, but IT’S HAPPENING! So make sure to fill up on your way to run an essential errand, while the “Safer-at-Home” orders are still in place. Almost makes you want to freeze it, right?

It’s hard to look passed the seriousness of what the world is going through right now. But as we all do our part to protect ourselves and our family, let’s spread the light and positivity to get us through this crisis and return to what we hope is a healthier Earth, and kinder people!
