Town Square sponsored The Pasadena Education Network’s (PEN) 7th Annual Wine Tasting this last Sunday, at Claud Beltran’s Bacchus’ Kitchen. The event included red and white wines donated by Everson Royce, appetizers from Beltran, music from the Pasadena High School Jazz Band, and a silent auction. There was also a boutique Whiskey Tasting that included a flight of whiskey and a cocktail.
PEN is a network for parents who support and send their children to Pasadena Unified School District schools. It is a nonprofit that promotes family participation in public education in Pasadena, Altadena and Sierra Madre. PEN believes that parent and community involvement are the building blocks to creating strong schools for all students. Every year at their wine event, PEN recognizes parent leaders who represent the type of involvement for which they promote. This year, they honored Steve Cole, the President of Invest In PUSD Kids, Lydia Finkley the District Advisory Council (DAC) Chair for PUSD, Mikala Rahn a PUSD parent who has served on the Sierra Madre School PTA, School Site Council, and the Advisory Board for the Muir Ranch, and Tom Selinske who has served on the PUSD school board since 2007 and was elected school board President from 2008-2010.
Our team was excited to sponsor and participate in the event and is looking forward to participating in more PEN events in the future.
