Do you like to spend your Sunday afternoons in the homes of others? Do you like to check the plumbing, peek in the garage and investigate the closets of homes you don’t own? Then you are some one who appreciates the importance of an open house.
Open houses are an opportunity to see a house first hand (typically on weekend afternoons). For buyers it lets them get to know a neighborhood through the properties that are held open. For sellers it is an opportunity to get exposure for the home they have for sale and to get feed back on the property. For agents it is an opportunity to meet buyers, sellers neighbors and other agents.
If you think of real estate agents as store owners the product in their store is houses. To sell their product it is useful to have the store open for business (i.e. have open houses) to let potential buyers see what they are selling.
In a world where so much of the commerce we do happens online thru written description and pictures real estate is one of the rear commodities that is best seen in person. Weather it is to check out the view from an upstairs bedroom, the street noise in a living room or the sun exposure in a back your; open houses are a great opportunity to see houses, meet agents and hopefully find a new place to call home.
