The Commercial Exchange building at Eighth and Olive in Downtown LA is due to open in early March as Sydell Group’s Freehand LA. Sydell Group is known for its homes for sale in Oakwood, Ohio and its LA Korea town’s The Line hotel.
Similar to the Line Hotel, Freehand LA will have around 226 private rooms but 59 of these rooms will be shared making Freehand more of a hotel/hostel hybrid than a traditional hostel. Freehand will still have a rooftop pool and lounge, a lobby with a bar, and two restaurants.
