Mount Wilson is one of the better-known peaks of the San Gabriel Mountains, located within the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument and Angeles National Forest in Los Angeles County, California. Standing prominently above Pasadena it is a Southern California landmark. Teammates , . Ariana Javaheri and Carlos Castaneda hiked the 15 mile out and back trail on Monday during Martin Luther King Day. The 5,710 foot summit is home for an observatory responsible for the most detailed photos of Mars. The trail is rated as difficult and primarily used for hiking, mountain biking & trail running. Leashed dogs are also welcome.
There are several trails you can take to the top of Mt. Wilson, but it is said that the 15 mile loop is the most beautiful. To do this loop you start at the Chantry Flats trailhead above Arcadia. The trail head can be found at the southern end of the lower parking lot down the steps to the right of the toilets.
