Last month Metro’s Board of Directors approved revising a joint development agreement with a developer and MacArthur Park Metro, LLC, to complete Phase B of their two part project in Westlake. Phase A of the project has already put 89 affordable units on a plot just across from the new phase’s location. Phase B will build 81 affordable apartments and up to 12,000 square feet of retail on the 1.8 acres above the Westlake/MacArthur park subway station. According to The Source the previous agreement had expired in 2013 with the project being $5 million over budget. To accommodate , . Phase B of the project the existing north portal to the subway station will be closed down and replaced with a new one on the southeast corner of the project fronting on Westlake Avenue. The south portal to the subway will continue to remain open. This comes at a great time for Westlake since the neighborhood has been reviving many of its old hotels and theaters. You can see more about the new buildings about to hit Westlake here.
