During this special month of thanking, we can’t think of a more appropriate way to do so than by volunteering or giving back to the community and those in need. Here is a list of local places that need your help and donations to make a difference this holiday.
1. Town Square Real Estate’s 3rd Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive– Pasadena
Let us start this holiday season by giving back to those in need.
Donate canned food or non-perishables and help us make a difference this Thanksgiving. It give us a tremendous amount of joy to be able to continue this Annual Food Drive event, as it allows us to give joy onto others during the Holiday Season. This year, we have partnered with the Los Angeles Mission to help provide food donations that will help with the 1,260 meals they serve a day. Additionally, donations may include personal care items, as those who visit them every day for a shower and clean clothing, do not have access to hygiene products and toiletries. For more info on what items the LA Mission seeks, please visit the website at: httpss://losangelesmission.org/ways-to-give/donate-food-clothing-goods/.

2. Goble Gobble Give– Echo Park and Downtown LA
Gobble Gobble Give is an event on Thanksgiving morning in which volunteers come together to gather dry goods, box warm food, and walk the streets of their community to hand out care packages to homeless individuals and families. They have many locations, including two nearby in Echo Park and Downtown LA. You can bring a dish of already-cooked, warmed food, like vegetables (corn, green beans, stuffing), cooked turkeys, and of course, desserts, 5 toiletry kits with toothbrush/toothpaste, soap and shampoo, and, gently used clothing, shoes, and blankets. They also need volunteers to coordinate food drop-offs, run food to kitchen or prep floor to be divided, box meals, sort clothing, make toiletry kits, bag water, clothes, blankets, and food, and, drive donations to the streets to distribute to persons in need.
3. Dinner In The Park– Pasadena
Be a #partofthesolution this Thanksgiving! From volunteering, to donating, to holding food drives, there are many ways volunteers can be involved in rebuilding lives this holiday season with the Union Station Homeless Services. You can donate an item from their wish list to help put on this event. Additionally, store bought pies are welcomed and can be delivered to 412 S. Raymond Ave before the event or may be dropped off at Central Park on Thanksgiving morning (drop off area is on the southern parking strip of Fair Oaks just north of Del Mar Blvd.). While shifts for the event are closed, much like for most events, they still need help the week before with food prep at the Adult Center and Centerplate at the Convention Center.
4. Union Rescue Mission Turkey Fry Day–
Join the Union Rescue Mission in frying turkeys as they gear up for their annual Thanksgiving celebration. No orientation is needed, but you do need to sign up here. There are still about 20 slots left, but hurry because space is limited. Some important things to know are that there is no on-site parking, so they recommend using Lyft or Uber, or parking in one of the nearby lots listed on their site. Also, there is a dress code (closed-toe shoes and pants at all times, no tank tops, no halters, no midriff-revealing tops, no low cut blouses, no sheer fabric or anything excessively tight-fitting, clothing must not portray alcohol, cigarettes, drugs or sexual or violent themes, no dangling or loose worn jewelry, and long hair should tied back) since volunteers will be cooking and handling food.
Town Square wishes everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving, and we hope this helps bring the spirit of gratitude and giving into your holiday traditions and celebrations.
