Biscuit Anyone..

The Downtown Real Estate market is comprised of many historical buildings, one of my favorite buildings is the iconic Biscuit Company Lofts. An adaptive reuse of the iconic, circa 1925 downtown LA Nabisco bakery building into 104 open plan live/work lofts. Church & State bistro is located right underneath the lofts. This landmark structure was designed by EJ Eckel, dean of American architects and founder of the distinguished firm of Eckel & Aldrich. Conceived as the west coast headquarters of the National Biscuit Company, constructed at the then astounding cost of $2,000,000, this celebrated 7 story, skyscraper factory was an architectural sensation.

Biscuit Company Lofts is a fusion of old world craftsmanship and new world design.

Biscuit lofts highlight natural light, and feature sturdy steel frame construction, high ceilings, exposed brick walls, thick hardwood floors, industrial scale windows and oversized doors.

There are a variety of floor plans with distinct shapes. Single story units range from 605 to 2,100 square feet. There are seventeen unique two, three and four story units varying from 1,800 to nearly 4,000 square feet. Ceiling heights are 13′, 16′, 20′ and 30′.

Biscuit was declared Historic and Cultural Monument of Los Angeles No. 888. As a Mills Act contracted community, Biscuit Company Lofts enjoys substantially reduced property taxes.
