A little over a year ago, we told you about our Little Beast’s very famous twin, a 1964 International Harvester Metro van used by the band Aerosmith back in the 70s, during their early ages.
American Pickers Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz purchased the van for $25,000 in order to restore it amd bring it to a running condition, all while preserving the Aerosmith artwork that decorated the side of the van.
Aerosmith then reached out to the “Pickers” with interest in buying their old tour van/dressing room/ home back after they restored it. The “Pickers got to work on the restoration and found an identical van that they used for parts, though still trying to maintain as much of the original van as possible. Using old photos, they were also able to redo the interior with wood paneling commonly used in that era.
When the project was complete, they met with Aerosmith in Las Vegas to deliver their beloved 1964 International Harvester Metro Van, along with the many memories the van brought the band, including nights spent sleeping in it, and secret places where recreational substances were stashed.
Aerosmith is currently displaying this relic of their history outside of their theater, thought they hope it some day becomes a part of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
