One of our favorite holiday traditions is driving around all the “Candy Cane Lane” neighborhoods (as we like to call them) and seeing all of the people’s creativity give life to the Christmas spirit. And because some are a little hard to find, we’ve compiled a go-to list just for you!
1. Christmas Tree Lane, Altadena– Santa Rosa Ave between Woodbury & Altadena Dr.
Santa Rosa Avenue’s long stretch of beautiful cedar trees lightens up perfectly each December, just to put everyone in the holiday spirit! Stroll or cruise down the street and take in all the Christmas. The lights go on after the official Tree Lighting the second Saturday of December at 6 pm.
2. Nortons Winter Wonderland – 513 N. Florence Street Burbank, CA 91505
Dick Norton completely transforms his home into Nortons Winter Wonderland. He even records the process of the transformation on the official website! The impressive displays launch December 9th, but he warns that the displays will not be operational on rainy days. For more info, check out the website.
3. Christmas Tree Lane– Huntington Drive & St. Albans Road, San Marino, CA 91108
Much like Altadena’s Christmas Tree Lane, enormous pine trees on the side of the road get turned into majestic Christmas trees. Some of the beautiful homes these trees sit in front of also light up for the season!
4. Upper Hastings Ranch– North of Sierra Madre Blvd & East of Michilinda Ave.
Block and blocks of this Northeast Pasadena neighborhood come together to form quite the display. Each block decorates according to a different theme, as outlined by the huge wooden cut-outs that lean against the trees on the side of the road.
5. Festival of Lights at the Mission Inn– Riverside
As if the Riverside Mission Inn isn’t beautiful enough, for Christmas, it wears a dress of 4.5 million lights! Although Riverside isn’t really local, it’s definitely a sight to see and worth the short travel! The Festival of Lights starts the day after Thanksgiving with a ceremony. The event includes carriage rides and real snow!
