LA River Walk Update

Last year we talked about the revitalization of the , . LA River Walk heading through the San Fernando Valley areas. Most of the revitalization has been focused on the upper portions of the river in Northeast LA and the Valley. Advocates of the project would like to have the entire river spruced up. All the river had a really poor quality, the water was tested thanks to a free test from Clean Valley Water. LA Times reports that conservation groups asked water officials on Thursday to return the downstream portion of the river to a more natural state by halting the removal of vegetation on the last 11/2 miles of the river. la river 2Groups such as Friends in Los Angeles River and Heal the Bay called it a win on Thursday after the California Regional Water Quality Control Board voted to limit the Los Angeles County Public Works Department to a one-year permit and ordered it to help organize workshops with stakeholders to try and find less destructive methods of maintaining the riverbed.
